Surya Tilak on Ayodhya’s deity Ram, PM Modi takes time out to witness divine event

Amid the election campaign ongoing, the country sort of came to a halt to pray to deity Ram on Ram Navami festival. There was quite an excitement since past few days among the devotees, both in India and abroad to witness the Surya Tilak on Ayodhya Ram temple deity.

Surya Tilak essentially means that shiny summer sun rays on the forehead of deity Ram as if it is a tilak that Hindus apply as a religious ritual.

“The first Ram Navami after the Pran Pratishtha in Ayodhya is a generational milestone, weaving together centuries of devotion with a new era of hope and progress. This is a day crores of Indians waited for. Innumerable people devoted their lives to this sacred cause. May the blessings of Prabhu Shri Ram always remain upon us and guide our paths towards righteousness and peace, illuminating our lives with wisdom and courage”, PM Modi wrote on X early on Ram Navami morning.

It is learnt that using cutting-edge scientific expertise, a 5.8 centimetre beam of light adorned the deity’s forehead. A specialised instrument was designed by a team of ten esteemed Indian scientists stationed at the Ram Mandir. So on the auspicious event on Ram Navami, for approximately 3 to 3.5 minutes starting at 12 noon, sunlight was precisely directed onto the statue’s forehead using a combination of mirrors and lenses.
