Iranian Presidential helicopter crash, wreckage located, ‘no sign of life’, say rescuers

‘No sign of life’ detected at crash site of helicopter carrying President Ebrahim Raisi, others, Iran state TV says. No survivors from helicopter crash involving Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, says Iranian state television.  Yet to be confirmed officially, but this would be a major jolt for Iran as its President Ebrahim Raisi and country’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian may have died in the crash. The helicopter has been completely burned in the crash.

Two other prominent officials travelling in the ill fated helicopter were Imam of Tabriz Mosque: Ayatollah Al-Hashemi Governor of East Azerbaijan Province: Malik Rahmati. 

Iran’s Press TV tweets, “Rescue teams identify President Ebrahim Raisi’s crashed chopper…No clue of any living persons in President Raeisi’s search following Sunday chopper crash.”

It was a Turkish Akinci UAV which had identified source of heat suspected to be wreckage of helicopter carrying Iranian President Raisi and shared its coordinates with Iranian authorities. Extreme weather conditions like fog and rain made it difficult for the rescuers to reach the spot of wreckage.
