‘Not an era for war’, says India to Europe, when asked on ammo supplies to Ukraine

India has reiterated that this is ‘not an era for war’ to the European friends amid news reports that Germany might be insisting on buying ammo from world’s largest democracy to then supply to Ukraine.

It need be mentioned that Western media was quite appreciative when Indian Prime Minister Modi told this very phrase to Russian President Putin in a bilateral meeting in Uzbekistan. But the Indians have now reiterated the same approach to the Europeans when they are anxious to get ammo for Ukraine, currently struggling in both military supplies and manpower.

Indian foreign ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal was on Friday asked of the media reports to which he responded saying how India favours discussion, diplomacy and talks and this has been articulated at the highest levels. There is no change in Indian approach after all.

As much as the desparate Western block is trying to woo India on their side completely, the South Asian giant has made it clear that it would like to maintain strategic autonomy.
