A detachment of the warships of the Russian Pacific Fleet, consisting of the missile cruiser Varyag and the frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov, arrived in the Indian port of Visakhapatnam to participate in the Multilateral Naval Exercise MILAN 2024.
The crew of the Varyag will be involved in the drills, while the Marshal Shaposhnikov, after replenishing its reserves, will continue to fulfil the tasks of the long-range campaign.
The visit of the Russian Navy to India will last more than a week. It is planned that they will take part in the coastal and maritime parts of the exercise, as well as in protocol activities. Cultural and sports events are also part of the programme.
The arrival of the Russian Pacific Fleet in India serves as another practical step in strengthening mutual trust and developing maritime cooperation with the Navies of foreign states.
